Why Traditional Schooling is Better...

Going to a community college or university, a more traditional classroom setting, allows for students to be more successful in the education career. When I was deciding how to continue my education, I knew that the university setting would provide me with more possibilities. Being an incoming freshman, finishing up my first semester, I can now confidently say that I am glad I chose to continue my education through the university. Having no previous experience in a college classroom, I was pleasantly surprised with the traditional aspect of the college classes. The traditional setting allowed me to succeed in my classes due to the fact that I could see my teacher and understand their teaching style on many levels by being physically in the same room.  For example in my biology class my professor used pictures, visual aids and physical demonstrations in order to convey a concept. It would have been very difficult to take this class online for I would not have the benefit of seeing and understanding different biological systems through my teacher’s own sporadic style. Along with being able to be emerged in the learning atmosphere, I also feel the interaction between other students helps to create a better learning environment. Throughout my classes I have met fellow students that have given me the opportunity to learn from them, such as understanding their study techniques. Being in a traditional setting creates more opportunities to meet new people and create new connections that can affect one’s future. The traditional setting truly provides a better learning environment for one to be successful in their higher education.
